LARTIGUE Video response

-To me what is most apperent in Lartigue's work is the consistant child like style he has. In the video one of the speakers claims Lartigue has no style consistant through out his work. However, from what I have seen this is not true, Lartigue has a various styles. It seems as though he has collections of works or different series of works. One of Lartigues qualities to his photographs is they often make you smile. Now a days photography is more concentrated on "art photographs." The majority of the photographs I have seen that have been taken recently are more focused on the formal properties. If the photographer concentrates on these formal properties when taking a picture, often they are going to turn out with a good photograph. In Lartigue's work it seems as though he was usually not focusing on the formal properties creating this childlike effect. However Lartigue may of not just taken a picture. In the video someone discribed how Lartigue would capture what made the subject significant and unique. In this photograph Lartigue makes the womans eyes the emphisis of the photograph. Besides her hair, her eyes are the only black thing in the photograph. It also seems as though everything besides her faces is a little out of focus, once again creating this ephisis on her face.

-This photograph below does an excellent job capturing the subject. The woman in the photograph is decked out in various animal furs while walking two dogs by the road. Although to the woman in the photograph this may have seemed fashionabale she simply looks rediculous. I don't know whether Lartigue thought this as well when taking the photograph, however, the way the photograph was taking would lead me to conclude this. There is no real ephisis on the woman besides the darkness of the pelts. The woman also does not look as if she is in a city or anywhere where she needs to be dressed the way she is. Another property adding to this photograph is the fact she is in mid stride, looking at the camera. She looks as if she is stuggeling to hull around the small animals on her body. All of these formal properties that Lartigue has used in his work to some may seen as to be almost accidental because of the style of this photograph and the rest of his work.
